Sophie Davis is a curator, director, and editor. She lives and works in Te Matau-a-Māui Hawke's Bay, where she is Director of Te Whare Toi o Heretaunga Hastings Art Gallery. Sophie has held curatorial and leadership roles across a variety of public institutions and art spaces in Aotearoa New Zealand, including Curator at Dunedin Public Art Gallery; Director of Enjoy Contemporary Art Space; Assistant Curator at The Physics Room; and co-founder of North Projects, an artist-run space in Ōtautahi Christchurch. She has also worked with and contracted for non-profits and governance boards such as the National Digital Forum and Museums Aotearoa.

Sophie is the editor of the independent publishing series Working Together, exploring issues of being-in-relation through the lens of contemporary artistic practices and the co-editor of As needed, as possible: Emerging discussions on Art, Labour, and Collaboration in Aotearoa New Zealand (2021), published by Enjoy and GLORIA Books. In 2018, Sophie co-founded, facilitated and edited Extended Conversations, an online publishing platform and mentorship programme for emerging critical writing delivered by Enjoy Contemporary Art Space and Blue Oyster Art Project Space.
